Latest Newsletter - 16 February

Time Trials
Time Trials will be held Tuesday 22nd February. We strongly encourage all swimmers to participate in time trials as points are awarded for end of season presentations from these events.

Time Trials will also be held on the following dates;

  • Thursday March 3rd
  • Thursday March 17th
  • Tuesday March 22nd
Parents are asked to attend with any swimmers as we require 16 time keepers to successfully run official time trials – along with the coaching positions of starter, recorder, judge of strokes and turns etc.

Nominations for Carnivals
The end of the season is fast approaching. Please note that all carnivals have now closed for nominations for the summer season. Swimmers are however permitted to participate in carnivals across the state until the end of April.

If you would like to attend any further carnivals, please check out what is available online at the Swimming SA website and discuss nominations process with Magriet. All swimmers wanting to attend carnivals from May 2011 onwards will need to re-register with the club prior to being eligible to compete.

½ Season Memberships Available
The club is now recruiting for new swimmers. Anyone who is interested in joining the club should attend the pool during one of our training sessions (see below) and “Try Out”. The coaches will be able to discuss details of competitive swimming and provide advice on suitable squads etc. All swimmers who can swim 1 lap of a recognisable stroke are welcome to join.

Training Times
All swimmers are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they can with all squads training now from Monday to Thursday;
  • White Squad – 5.00pm – 6.00pm
  • Green Squad – 5.00pm – 6.30pm
  • Black Squad – 5.00pm – 7.00pm
Calling for a Club Vice President & Committee Members
The club is now recruiting for a new Vice President. This role is now available due to Christine moving back to Adelaide. We are also seeking interested parents for General Committee Positions. Please contact any committee member or coach for further details on what is involved.

The Roxby Downs Swimming Club Hot Weather Policy requires that in the event of ambient temperatures of more than 38 Degrees Celsius, swim training will be cancelled for all squads.
The correct temperature will be established by a report given on the Elders Weather website at 3.30pm on any given afternoon.

Coaches will not be attending the pool on these days and parents will need to ensure their children are aware of cancellations to training and other arrangements are made for their children.

If you have any questions or concerns about the Hot Weather Policy please do not hesitate to contact the committee.
