Roxby Downs Carnival – Saturday 13th November
We will be holding our annual carnival this Saturday with racing commencing at 10.30am. All parents of swimmers are required to be in attendance for the day to assist with time keeping and other roles including chaperoning the team. We also ask that you bring a Salad & or Desert for the BBQ dinner which we host for all visiting clubs and volunteers which includes a BYO license. Alcohol must be given to the Leisure Centre Staff who will distribute during the night.

Please review the below time line and ensure swimmers are present as required and that you are aware of the roles that you have been assigned for the day. Training will be given on the day for all new families and if you require any assistance the committee will be available on Thursday night prior for more information.

Roxby Carnival – Run Sheet
6:30am – Pool Set up (10 People)
9:00am – Swimmers arrive at pool – Handicap Cards Submitted
9.30am – Warm Ups
10.30 - Racing Starts
12.30 pm – Lunch Break - Approximately (Rotary Volunteers)
1:00pm – Racing Resumes
4:00pm – Scheduled Carnival End (Everyone)
5:00pm – BBQ Dinner & BYO Drinks (Rotary Volunteers)

Please ensure your child has the following equipment with them on the day

  • Racing Bathers
  • Swim Caps (X2)
  • Goggles (X2)
  • Towel (X2)
  • Wide Brimmed or Club Hat
  • Club T-Shirt
  • Warm Clothes
  • Black Shorts or Tracksuit Pants
  • Water Bottle
  • Lunch & Snacks or money for food
Children will be supervised by the club chaperone and are to remain in the club area at all times that they are not racing. If for any reason they need to leave the area they must notify the chaperone. They will be asked to drink water and apply sunscreen regularly.

Thursday Night Club Meeting & Time Trials
Please note Thursday 11th November we will be holding a time trial to show swimmers how Handicap Races are run. We will hold 25m & 50m Freestyle and then either 25m Back / Breast or Fly for each swimmer to get times for our handicap events.
A parents meeting will also be held to advise roles for the carnival. Please ensure at least one parent attends this event.

Marion Open Carnival
Congratulations to Julia who achieved 5 Personal Best Times at the recent Marion Long Course Carnival. She took several seconds off most events and although she did not medal performed very well in a top class event.

Carnival Nominations
Please review the list below of upcoming carnivals for the season. Swimmers wanting to compete must register their interest on the sign up forms located on the equipment trolley PRIOR to the listed closing date. These are normally 4 weeks prior to the carnival, unless otherwise stated. For information on the best events for you please discuss with your coaches.
